〜に即して・〜に即した

に即して means "in close accordance with" facts or reality: 事実に即して、報告書を書いてください, "please write the report in line with the facts".

The noun is usually about reality: 事実, 現状 ("the current situation"), 実態 ("the actual state"), 実情. It can also be a rule, like 法律. Before a noun, it's に即した: 現状に即した対策, "measures suited to the current situation".

即 means "immediate, close to", so it's "sticking close to". It's formal and common in policy, reports and law.

It's close to に基づいて (N2) and に沿って (N2). Compare に反して (N2), "contrary to".
