わけ means "reason" or "logic", and わけだ says something follows naturally: 暑いわけだ。三十五度もある, "no wonder it's hot. It's all of 35 degrees".
It often comes after learning the cause of something you'd noticed: "so that's why". 道理で ("no wonder") and なるほど ("I see") often come just before it.
It also states the logical result of a calculation or explanation: 毎日三十分歩けば、一週間で三時間半歩くわけだ, "walking thirty minutes a day means three and a half hours a week".
With ね, it checks your understanding of what someone said: つまり、明日は来られないわけですね, "so what you're saying is you can't come tomorrow".
